A passion to become a Spanish Teacher
One of my most important decisions has been at this moment in my life, where I have been thinking thoroughly regarding what I want for my future. I have been undecided based on choosing my career path. It took me until college to have my final decision. What motivated me to become a Spanish Teacher is because I will be able to teach my first language and, as well, Hispanic cultures. I remember when I was smaller, I would play teacher with my cousins, and I would always tell them that I wanted to be the teacher. I feel the ability of teaching has always been significant to me.
My goal is to become a Spanish Teacher at a High school level, preferably senior year, when students are in their final year and tend to be more responsible than freshman year students. I am yet not sure If I want to continue with my education and work for a PhD. It does take time for this, but I know that by having this I would have more job opportunities. And not only that, but I would also make my parents proud When I started attending CSUMB, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to teach high school or college. But after I did my service hours, I was convinced that I want to teach high school because the students are more responsible compared to elementary school. I want to help students to have a positive future that will help them find a good job, direct my students to the right path, and make them feel proud of themselves and want to continue with their education. Since I feel Spanish is a language where they think it is an unnecessary language. But in reality, it is very important because it could help them when getting a job. We get more opportunities in getting a job since we are bilingual. My goal is to like Spanish and value this language. Still, there are people who are embarrassed to speak Spanish. For example, my sister is in middle school, and she prefers to speak English. She says that her Spanish is not that good. I don’t want my future students to feel like my sister.
