My Service Learning site was at the Boys and Girls Club in Monterey County. Having the opportunity to perform my hours here was meaningful for me because it gave me the motivation to pursue my dream of becoming a Spanish Teacher. Even though it was not based on my major, it gave me the opportunity to have the experience to know what teaching really is. For instance, making plans for the next class, and having the correct materials the children had to use for the projects they were making, help the children to feel comfortable when needing to ask a question and, as well, safe in the class. We did group activities like making a drawing of something they are thankful for since it was the time of thanksgiving. It was an interesting project to do, since I never thought certain of the kids would actually be thankful for their parents. I was really proud of the kid because from only being five years old I did not expect such a positive response. I also had them present in front of class. To give them the confidence of the assignment they did. Not only the children had the opportunity to learn, but myself as well. What I am trying to indicate is that I also had the opportunity to master their thoughts on what are the activities they are interested in. I also learned children need attention since they are at the age of requiring a lot of attention.
