MLO5

MLO 5: CULTURAL INTERNALIZATION & LANGUAGE IMMERSION
In MLO 5, there is a class that I took which was Spanish 301S, which helped prepare me for the completion of this learning objective that I later met in SPAN 495. This MLO helps student to understand and be able to contribute to their community by helping in certain ways.  Mlo 5 requires students to set their linguistic and community experience. Which for me means being able to understand how to help others and care about our community. For SPAN 301S, I chose to do my service hours at the Boys and Girls Club. There I had the opportunity to be in the art room. I was able to teach my own class. And it gave me an idea of how it would be in the future when I become a teacher. At the beginning, I was nervous because even though they were small kids, I was scared of not being able to speak well, of not having the correct words. And since my English is not that good, my anxiety was elevated. It is surprising how much help our community needs, and we don’t do anything to help. For this project I did a presentation based on the place where I took over my service and the experiences I had. This class also taught me that there are different types of people with different thoughts than us and to comprehend and respect them.
