Course Narrative
In Span 310, I could say it was a very interesting class to take. I I learned about Chicanx literature, through reading books for children, adolescents, and young adults. In this class I learned that it is very important to analyze the book completely and not only be satisfied by the title or its book cover. I was able to identify the differences between the books for childrens, middle grade and young adults. A book for middle grade is for ages 8-12 years old. The characters are around the age of 13 years old since these readers like to read about characters older than them with age-appropriate language. On the other hand, the characters focus on their families, and their world, but it doesn't include much personal reflection. A book for young adults between the ages of 12- 18 years old. And it is a book that talks about situations that young people go through in real life. We were able to do a presentation based on a book between those ages. I decided to do mine on the book called I'm not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter which is considered a book for middle grade students. I'm Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter.
