Course Reflective Narrative
One of the classes I took last semester was Spanish 321, Masterpieces of Hispanic Literature. In this class, we were able to learn about different Spanish writers. At first, I thought this class would be hard because I thought learning about new authors would be difficult since they are from different places that I did not know. Nevertheless, it was interesting because we saw different topics such as envy, romanticism, classism, and the fact that parents used to be stricter than now since parents wouldn't let their daughters date a man, especially when the man is not from the same class as them. The parents wanted their daughters to date a man who would be able to give her a good life. What I liked about this class is that we had to write reflections based on the readings we had to do. One story that I really liked was Don Quijote de la Mancha. I thought this story was interesting because we saw how Don Quijote was a man who would help other people who needed his help. We saw injustice between some people from the town, Don Quijote and Sancho. Sancho was a true friend to Don Quijote, whose wish was to be president. He did become President, but later Sancho was humiliated by all the people who thought that Sancho was crazy. In this class, I explored that just because we are low-income does not mean we need to stop following our dreams.
